Another profound influence on my musical development was my teacher, Dr. Yessin, whose training was part of a remarkable lineage of great pianists and teachers.
Through generations of mentorship, Dr. Yessin’s musical heritage traces back through teachers whose own teachers ultimately studied with a student of Franz Liszt, one of the greatest pianists and composers in history. This connection to the Liszt tradition represents a living chain of musical knowledge passed from teacher to student over more than a century.
Dr. Yesin also studied with the renowned pianist and teacher Rosina Lhévinne, one of the most celebrated piano pedagogues of the twentieth century. Madame Lhévinne taught many distinguished artists, including the legendary pianist Van Cliburn and the great film composer and pianist John Williams.
Through this extraordinary lineage, I was fortunate to inherit a tradition of musical excellence that reaches back through some of the most influential figures in the history of piano. That heritage continues to shape the way I approach music and the way I teach my own students today.
